Mazuria is one of the most beautiful parts of Poland with beautiful pine and birch forests, and interesting villages and towns. Known as the Land of a Thousand Lakes, there are actually more like 3000 and among many other activities, they are a paradise for water sports, fishing and ice sailing in the winter.

Kętrzyn

This is a really nice town with an interesting castle and a 14th century church.  It was starting to get a little dark so I didn't have enough time to explore much.  Before 1945 Kętrzyn was part of East Prussia and was called Rastembork.

We walked around the town for a while taking pictures.  Too bad I didn't know a fellow travel buddy is from Kętrzyn - I could have asked for some advice about places to visit and things to do!  But... I plan on going back!
