SF TravBuddy Meet - Jade Bar

San Francisco Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

This was definitely the TravBuddy meet to beat! Ekua coordinated an incredible turn out at the Jade Bar in San Francisco, CA.

SF TravBuddy Meet - Jade Bar

The LA Originals - Roger, Judy, Lauri, Mark, Erin, and Will

What an incredible turn out....Thanks so much to Ekua for coordinating a great evening!  The Jade Bar was a cute little bar and very easy to spot.  Ekua had mentioned everyone would be meeting downstairs in the lounge and when we got down the stairs, the entire spot was FILLED with TravBuddies!  My boyfriend Scott and I were a little late as we battled quite a bit of traffic trying to get into the City on a Saturday night.  Once we hit Berkeley, it was nothing but stop and go until we got over the Bay Bridge and off the 101 fwy! It was definitely worth it though!

There were so many people at this meet and I probably only talked to about one-fifth of the people there!  Of course, the first people I noticed were Will, Roger, and no travbuddy meet would be complete without Mark! Will somehow landed the job of ensuring everyone had name tags which was incredibly helpful!  He took his job rather seriously too - thanks Will! :-)

It was great to see our little group from the LA meet in December.

Roger, Judy, David, and Will
Of course, Mark, Roger, his wife Judy, Will were there and Lauri flew up from San Diego!  I think Will is going to try and compete with Mark for attendance at the most meets (future award?? LOL).  Met some incredible people including co-founder David and Eric and David's mom, Portia!  Fortunately, the lower level lounge was small enough that we didn't lose David for the group photo like Eric at the LA meet!! :-)

There was this cute fountain area in the back so Scott and I hung out there most of the time with Will and Julz who was there with her cousin, Leah - talk about two awesome gals!!! The Jade Bar was so unassuming from the outside but very stylish inside, complete with a waterfall tile wall along side the stairs as you head down to the lounge!  Figures though - I forgot about the "splash zone" and managed to get my dress wet both times I went upstairs!! LOL.

Mark, Erin, and Scott

Scott and I left around 10 as we had dinner reservations at my favorite restaurant, The Stinking Rose!!! Not sure where everyone ended up but since most everyone was still there when we left, I am sure there are some good blogs to follow!

Again, what a great night and thanks again to Ekua for her efforts in coordinating such a successful meet!

Great blog and photos. Though I didn't really get to chat with you (there's a lot that I didn't chat with), I'm sure there will be many more. Take care.

This is by far my favorite restaurant! The one in Beverly Hills/West LA is even better but now that I am in Northern CA, I will be loyal to the San Francisco one! Definitely have to try the Bagna Calda to start. It’s basically their signature dish and I’ve tried to make it at home and it just is not the same! For entrees, the Neon Ravoli or 40 Clove Garlic Chicken are amazing. The recipe for the 40 Clove Chicken is online, fantastic to make at home. It sounds like a lot with the 40 cloves but the sauce reduces it some and it’s not that garlicky. For dessert, you must try the Garlic Ice Cream. It sounds strange at first but everyone who has tried it LOVES it!! It’s just got a hint of garlic and the sauce is almost a tad spicy so the combination is perfect. Probably not the best first place date but definitely worth it!!! :-)
