JAX to MIA to EZE
JAX
(Jacksonville, FL)
Construction of the airport started in 1965, in order for the city to accommodate a more cosmopolitan populace which was introduced with the sizable military base in the region. Jacksonville International was finally opened on October 31, 1968, replacing the antiquated Imeson Airport.
Initially the airport was slow to expand, only serving two million passengers a year by 1982. The airport served over five million passengers annually by 1999, and an airport expansion plan was approved in 2000. In 2006, 5,946,188 passengers were processed. (Wikipedia)
MIA
(Miami, FL)
The airport was opened to flights in 1928 as Pan American Field, the operating base of Pan American Airways Corporation. In 1945, the City of Miami established a Port Authority and raised bond revenue to purchase the airport, which had meanwhile been renamed 36th Street Airport, from Pan Am.
According to the clocks reflection I have 3 hours more to go...
Every traveler knows: "Hurry up and Wait"
It was merged with an adjoining Army airfield in 1949 and expanded further in 1951. The old terminal on
36th Street was closed in 1959 when the modern passenger terminal (since greatly expanded) opened for service.
The hubs at MIA were taken over by United Airlines and American Airlines. Today, Miami is American's largest air freight hub, and forms the main connecting point in the airline's north-south oriented international route network. MIA is the third busiest Aiport in America shuttling 14 million people annually. (Wikipedia)
EZE
(Buenos Aires, Argentina)
Ministro Pistarini International Airport (IATA: EZE, ICAO: SAEZ) serves the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and is the country's largest international airport. It is more commonly known as Ezeiza Airport because it is located in the city of Ezeiza in Greater Buenos Aires, about 35 km (40 minutes' drive) from the city centre. It is also the hub for the international routes of AerolĂneas Argentinas.
The airport is named after general and politician Minister Juan Pistarini (1882-1956).
Security Warning:
In July 2007, Argentina's Canal 13 conducted an investigation revealing that a group of security operators at the airport are stealing valuable objects such as iPods, digital cameras, cellular phones, sun glasses, jewelry and laptops while scanning the checked luggage of passengers. According to the special report, security operators at the airport should check each bag before putting it into the plane; however, some operators take advantage of the scanner machine to detect valuable objects and steal them. The report states that this event occurs every day and that the stolen items include anything from electronic devices to perfumes and chocolates.
