Fell in love early

Before arrival I envisioned Borneo to be very rustic and primal. Borneo is very primitive in places but it is still Malaysia (at least the north part is).  I guess I should have know that It would be at least somewhat similar to Peninsular Malaysia but I didn't put it together.  KK is the capital and hub of Sabah.  The city is pleasant, clean, modern, and has plenty of cheap eateries and rooms.  After the Philippines it was great to get back to a hostel that was organized, provided solid information, and offered standard services such as laundry.  I met a lot of great people in the the North Borneo Cabin hostel.  All of the stories of the of the amazing outdoor activities got me really excited.  I loved Borneo straight out of the gate.
