El cielo es un lugar que se llama Andorra

I left Friday afternoon with two of my girlfriends on my program. The bus ride took about three hours, through beautiful mountains and rivers. The lady next to me on the bus was originally from Toulouse, France and now lives in Andorra la Vella (Andorra´s capital and only town). She spoke Spanish, French and Catalán and works for the Andorra postal office (Correus), which I found fabulously fascinating. However, most people in Andorra don´t consider her that cool because they speak Spanish, French, Catalán AND English.
So on Saturday, we went to Caldea, Europe´s largest spa complex and literally played in thermal springs with massaging jets, steam rooms, saunas, and Eucalyptus mist for three hours. There was even a jacuzzi outside which you could bask in and stare at the Pyrenee mountains. I know, I´m even jealous of myself reading this.
After that, we shopped (Andorra has some awesome outlets and is known for inexpensive (tax-free) perfumes and electronics), ate dinner and found a cute little martini bar right across the street from our hotel. It was probably one of the best days ever.
The fun only continued on Sunday as we took a bus to a tiny town about 15 minutes away (which was the other side of the country) called Ordino, to explore the Pyrenees. We hiked up a few different trails (none of which were actually hiking trails, I think, but we made them work) and took some of the most awesome pictures (to be posted soon). We had a few fun adventures, like stumbling upon a farm in the mountains and being chased away by an angry mother goose, and hiking up a steep part of the mountain with a bottle of cava (Catalonian champagne) in our hands... But the scenery was gorgeous (a great escape from bustling Barcelona) and the people were incredibly friendly and indulged us when we insisted on speaking Spanish the entire weekend. I´d say it was a pretty successful first excursion away from Barcelona.
