Beach Time

So the so-called death ride wasn't so bad after all.  We didn't even break down and we finally arrived at the beach in great condition.  And it was everything and more than we had anticipated.  Clean, crystal clear waters and a white sand, palm fringed beach were just what the doctor ordered.  I somehow managed to fill 8 days here.  I probably could have stayed for 8 months.  The water was perfect, the food was some of the best I've ever had and we didn't see a cloud the entire time.  New Years was a blast, as a group of us went to dinner and each had a lobster.  The crazy Czech and Slovakian guys ordered a $47 bottle of champagne a few days in advance.  You can see from the photos it was quite the New Years bash.  We somehow ended up in the ocean after midnight while the beach parties were still going on.  You can use your imagination as to how that went...

The days at Ngapali were filled with reading, sitting, exercising and just plain enjoying being alive.  It doesn't sound all that exciting, but just stopping and sitting sometimes is quite nice.  In fact, its necessary.  And Ngapali was the perfect place to do it.  We ate freshly caught seafood for 8 days and nothing else besides fresh fruit in the morning.  Being a seafood freak, this place was like heaven.  Leaving wasn't so easy, but we had to go back to Yangoon to catch our flight back to Bangkok.  A perfect ending to an amazing trip...
