Prague Castle and Charles Bridge

After having a very nice breakfast at Bohemian Bagel, it was straight to Prague Castle today.  Even though it was only one day difference from yesterday, there was probably twice the amount of people walking the narrow streets of Old Town on the way to Charles Bridge.  I decided to the tram to Prague Castle, didn't really feel like hiking uphill in 0 celcius temperature.  It is called Prague Castle but really it is a town, collection of many Churches and Cathedrals enclosed in high walls.

The most famous of the cathedrals is St. Vitus Cathedral.  Within this massive cathedral lies the tombs of many Bohemian kings, and it exemplifies excellence of Gothic architecture and is the biggest and most important church in the Czech Republic.

I planned on taking the tour inside the cathedral and seeing the tombs, however, once I saw the line around the ENTIRE cathedral, that dream evapourated.   I still got to admire the place from the outside lol...

St George's Basilica is another heavily visited place in the Castle, however, it looks very different than St. Vitus.   Instead of looking very dark and being covered by gargouilles, it is made out of red stone.  What Prague Castle offers is one of the best views of Prague from atop of the hills.

After walking all over the Castle, admiring the Bohemian architecture from many different styles it was time to eat :)  Me and my brother decided against McDonalds, even though there was a sign telling us that we are only 50m away.  We went to a little eatery called Metrocafe, which certainly hit the spot... I had the Crepes with Chocolate and it was just what I wanted haha...

On the way back to Old town, we got a chance to check out Charles Bridge during the day, admire the beauty of the statues.  Definitely a worthy trip when you are in Prague.

You got some amazing pictures. When I was there, they were renovating the castle, so one couldn't see that much. But I could still see how beautiful and grand it is.
Also the Charlse Bridge is something out of the ordinary.
Don't you just love Prague? :o)) I know I'll be back there one day...
