Another travel day. Got a taxi all the way from Olinda to the bus station, so that saved us lugging everything onto the metrto. Bus to Goianina arrived there about 2.30pm, and then got a mini-bus to Pipa. Our hotel room is on top of the hotel and has a great view out to the ocean. Had a great, cheap lunch then a siesta before a yummy and cheap pasta dinner (yes, today was an eating day!). Have so far managed to get some good meals at a reasonable cost on this trip, you just need to get off the main drag in towns and go up a few side alleys - if you do this, the prices are almost half in many cases. Some of us then went on to a couple of bars, enjoying pina coladas, cuba libres etc.
We can now see we´ll be home next month! Had a great, lazy day today. We went to the swimming beach, about a 15 minute walk around the headland from the town, and in a lovely sheltered bay. The water was perfect, quite warm and with waves that weren´t too big. As we were swimming about, a couple of dolphins came in and swam in amongst all the people. It was terrific, nobody bothered them, just let them go wherever they wanted and they stayed around for ages. Noel had an açai and Melissa had a coconut - we´re becoming locals!! Had to leave the beach by 2pm because the tide comes in and you get cut off from the town.
Didn´t do much today, just filled in time waiting to go on the night bus tonight from Natal to Fortaleza. Noel got a haircut, we had lunch with some of the group, did some internet and then caught our mini-bus to Natal. The bus turned out to be FREEZING cold because the aircon is on full bore all night, and the many ´10 nminute´stops turned into half to one hour stops, so not the most enjoyable journey we´ve had.
