Let me tell you, getting to Amsterdam was a drag. My two visiting friends from the States and I set out by train  from Bad Aibling, Germany at 7:00am. Due to snow fall we made it as far as Grosskarolinenfeld (which is about 10 miles out). They made us get out of the train and switch into a different one in the middle of nowhere. Then in Munich all the Arrival/Departure signs were broken. Finally found the right platform and got on the next train headed for Darmstadt where we were going to meet with our ride. Somewhere in between the two locations we stopped again for about an hour because there was something wrong with the tracks. The rest of the journey was much more pleasant. I guess we set out of Darmstadt at around 4:00pm, which is ridiculous considering what time we had left in the morning. The car ride was quick and we finally made it to Amsterdam at around 8:00pm.

Got our quarters at the Bulldog hotel in the middle of the "Red light district". Interesting to say the least. So that night we just kind of wandered the streets a little and returned to our bunk beds pretty early.
The next morning we set out to find some breakfast, even though it was really already time for lunch if you ask me, but anywho. At the Dam Square we got some coffee and baked stuff to tie us over until later, because we wanted to go to the Hard Rock Cafe for real food.
Oh, did I mention that it had started to snow in the middle of the night? Yeah, fun stuff.

The snow had followed us all the way from Bavaria.

Walking outside was kinda cold so we decided to check out a few museums. No, not art and stuff. We went to the Amsterdam Sex museum. Wow, very interesting and try not to be to baked cause those stairs in there are no joke! ;-) Afterwards we kinda stumbled across a few coffee shops and then made our way to the wax museum which was fun! We got our picture taken with wax Pierce Brosnan which was a new edition to the museum at the time. Afterwards we hit the Heineken Brewery. If I remember correctly the tickets are 10 Euro per Person but you do get 3 free beers inside so :-) . We made a video of us floating in a beer bottle which was hilarious. Maybe one day I'll load it up here. hahaha After all of this it was finally time for fooooooood. We went to Amsterdam's Hard Rock Cafe and filled our bellies.
And that was about all we did because we had to head back home since the weekend was almost over and some folks had to get back to work.

Great place to stay with a group of people
My friends and I stayed here in March of 2005. Parking outside can be tricky, but most of you will probably come here by plane or train anyhow. We had… read entire review
