Arriving in London!
January 15, 2008
Whoo hoo I am finally in London!! I left Vancouver on the 14th at 1:50pm on Zoom airlines. It was really sad saying good bye to my mom and sister but at the same time really exciting because I was going to LONDON!! I had a bit of a wait at the airport and I must say, Vancouver International is soo nice!! There is like a fake stream and trees and a huge fish tank and couches and all this nice stuff for people to wait for their flights. And there is free wireless as well so I could go on the internet hehe. I flew with zoom and it was a direct but not non-stop flight to London. We had to stop in Ireland first. I had a window seat luckily and I was sitting next to a nice older lady from Squamish. During the flight they showed 4 movies (Rush Hour 3, 310 to Yuma, Wild Hogs, and Happy Feet) I tried to sleep while 310to Yuma was on because I didn't want to watch it but it wasn't very comfy lol.
They served a dinner and then a snack and it wasn't too bad. Nothing amazing but not grotesque haha. We stayed at the airport in Belfast for about an hour while people got off and we refueled but no one got on the plane. The floght from Belfast to London was only about an hour so it wasn't that bad. The whole flight was really smooth with no turbulence except for the last 15 minutes. I guess it was because it was windy in London that as we were coming down the plane was soo shaky and I felt so sick! I thought I might have to use that little complimentary barf bag they put in the seat haha. Anyways so that was all good, took about 30 minutes to get through customs but had no problems there. Bags came up right away so that was good. The only bad thing was I had 4 bags.
..and one me. I had my huge travellers backpack and then a wheelie suitcaste. Then I had my laptop case over top across my shoulder but because my backpack was one it was pretty much off my neck haha. And then I tied my other shoulder bag to the top of my suitcase and dragged it with my suitcase and then I had my purse hanging off my arm. A very funny site lol. The train from the airport kind of sucked because it was really packed so I had to stand with my bag on my back for 40 minutes and I kind of hit a man in the head with my backpack haha. The tube REALLY sucked because I kept on getting stuck in the trap doors and then the alarm would go off and then the security would come and pry open the doors so I could get my bag out lol. Once I got to the hostel I found out that SWAP had booked me for January 15th 2007 so they didn't have any reservation for me! But they were still able to fit me in yay.
As soon as I got into my room I lied down cause my back was sooo sore and I fell asleep for about an hour hehe. When I did get up I just walked around for a bit exploring and I came across a phone store and bought my new cell phone!! I am so happy with it and it was so cheap! Then I went to the Tesco Express and bought a sandwhich for dinner. There was a quiz night in the bar so I teamed up with some guys from India and we lost horribly lol. I got a couple calls from home on my new "mobile" so that was pretty sweet and then I went to bed fairly early as I had to be up early next morning for my orientation at BUNAC. I can't add any pics yet because for some strange reason my laptop won't accept the wireless here so I'm just on the hostel's computers. So all in all, a good first day in London and I am soo excited to be here, I love this city!!!

Not a bad airline. The plane inside seemed kind of old but whatever. You get one of those flimsy little pillows but no blanket so that sucks. They have big TV’s all down the isles to watch movies so you will be able to see them wherever you are sitting. Although you have to buy their headphones which are $5!! I just used my own but it`s the type where there is two outlets so I could only listen with 1 ear but I didn`t care I didn`t want to pay $5 to use them for one time! It seems that they are always serving food so there isn`t really a need to bring any on the flight with you but who doesn’t. I mean the food is airplane food but it wasn’t that bad. The sandwich they served as a snack was also really good. So definitely would recommend this airline as it`s pretty decent. Can only have 20kg of check in luggage and its $10 for every 1kg extra so be careful cause you might end up paying and extra $70 like me!

I guess this might be a little biased as this is my home airport but it is really nice!!! I know anyone would hate being delayed for a flight but I don’t think it would be that bad to be delayed here lol. Before you go through security there is a whole bunch of shops and little restaurants and what not so you can still visit with friends and family and get something to eat before you depart. After you go through security there is sooo many shops!! Shop after shop, you could get anything! Well obviously it’s expensive as it’s an airport and they always charge out the ass for anything but it’s still nice. And then through all the international departure gates there is this stream with all these rocks and logs and there is these glass fish that look like they are jumping out of the water. And then there are trees all around and little bridges that go over the water. Then there is a whole bunch of tables and comfy looking chairs and there is free wireless!!! Then at the end of the stream there is this massive fish tank along the wall with lots of fish and starfish, and sea cucumbers and just a whole bunch of stuff, it’s really cool! Anyways for all you people who come to Vancouver, have fun waiting for your flight back home! I can’t really say much if your flying domestic or to the US...I’ve never flown domestic before and I can’t remember what it looked like when I went through to the states. Rated as expensive cause really, aren't all flights??
