Looking back towards the palace from the gazebo
We made it to the Linderhof palace in the late afternoon. We had enjoyed the country side for a little while. Which means, I had to get gas and so we had to take back roads. There are no gas stations along the highway that leads toward Garmisch-Partenkirchen. No big deal though. Back roads are nicer anyways. You get to see more, since things aren't flying by, because you're going too fast... or wait, that's just me. haha

The palace is located in the Ettal, a valley only 16 km outside of Garmisch. It is the smallest of the three palaces built by Bavaria">King Ludwig II of Bavaria and the only one that was finished in his time. He lived here for 6 or 8 years. Can't remember exactly.

Linderhof Palace Wikipedia entry for this palace is so nicely done, so you can see pictures of the inside, that you aren't allowed to take on the tour.

 Linderhof Palace
The official website for the palace and all the other castles that were built by or for King Ludwig II.

He's a mystery on his own. Nobody knows if he was murdered, if he committed suicide or if his death was of natural causes. He drowned in Lake Starnberg.
