The city Wasserburg
So today I was waiting for my dad to call and tell me what time he would come pick me up. He finally got around to that and we were on the road at around 10:30 a.m.. Since we only had this one day to see each other time was short. He came from way out of town just to see me. To you that may not be such a big deal, but to me it actually is.
Unfortunately my aunt (dad's sister) got sick a few days earlier and prior to her 60th birthday so we had to make a stop at the hospital. Since the hospital was located in Wasserburg am Inn we decided to grab a bite to eat at a restaurant near by before heading for the hospital.
Lunch was at a good Bavarian restaurant where we "ran into" my cousin with her husband and 2 kids.
The old city gate
Of course this was no coincident. My dad had planned this behind my back all along. lol Of course I was happy to see them all. While we were having lunch there was a couple of short snow storms outside. Crazy weather, I'm telling ya! In a matter of minutes the roads were covered in snow. The the sun came back out and the roads cleared just as fast.
Since the restaurant was on the top of a hill you could catch a great view from up here. Wasserburg to your feet basically! I snapped a few pictures from here and then we got back into the car. We drove into Wasserburg over the old moat/river and through the old town's front gate. Inside the roads are TINY and the buildings are old. You can look at the pictures for proof of that.
Wasserburg is a pretty old town, founded in 1137 (older then Munich) so there is lots of history here.
Wasserburg from the top of a big bridge
It was very important during the 16th century for salt trade since the city itself lies on the river Inn which used to be the only waterway in this part of Bavaria and the Inn connected to the Danube river which made Wasserburg not only big in Bavaria but very important all the way to the Balkans as well.

After spending about 2 hours at the hospital we got back on the road, because my dad had set his mind on showing me another view of Wasserburg. So after getting lost once or twice (don't think we turned around, NO, my dad just keeps driving and finds another way) we finally got to the Inn river bridge high up on the opposite side of town. Also a nice view from up there. My dad was happy and so was I.
That was about it for this day unless you wanna hear about me dragging my dad to an Irish Pub.... but that's another story.
