After the mountain climb, we were all just about dead, and our legs were so painful that we almost cried every time we had to take a few steps (let alone go up/down any stairs). So it's no surprise that we spent most of the day veging out in our hotel room.

Unfortunately we did have to get up and buy some clothes though ... all of stuff had been soaked with rain and sweat, and most of it had to be quarantined in "The Stinky Cupboard". Ewwww.

Later on we ventured to Tanjung Aru beach, and I marvelled at all the crab poo covering the sand (apparently it's not that gross because it's almost 100% sand anyway). The view of the nearby islands, and the almost-sunset (it was obscured by clouds) made it something pretty special, and the hawker food (including some delicious bbq-ed stingray, and my first taste of coconut milk straight from the coconut) was an added bonus.

Before bed we went downstairs for some drinks in the very overpriced hotel bar (we were lured there by the free "welcome drinks". There was a guy on a keyboard on the stage, with two girls out front singing a range of ridiculously slow, sappy songs. We were in dire need of hearing something a bit more upbeat so we requested "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" ... apparently that was inapropriate, but they did sing "Don't Speak" by No Doubt, which was surprisingly rockin' and made us very happy. Although, in Debbie's case I think her over-happiness came from all the sugary fruit juice she drank, which gave her another amusing attack of hyperactivity.
