IN PROGRESS........... As my dad died this September, my mom and I didn't want to spend Christmas at home so we decided to go to the Yucatán Peninsula for 2 weeks and there meet up with my Aunt from Missouri.

affordable & clean
My mom and I stayed at the Ibis Frankfurt Airport on Dec 12th, 2007 the day before we flew to Cancun. We payed € 49 for the room and € 9.50 per person for the breakfast buffet. If you book 30 days in advance you get the tarif "Happy 30" which means the hotel is cheaper (conditions see website). A free shuttle bus picked us up at Frankfurt airport (5am-11pm). The hotel is about 4km away from the airport and every 30mins a shuttle bus is leaving. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are clean, functional, air-conditioned and you can get smoking or non-smoking rooms. There is shower gel in the bathroom so you don't have to bring it if you use late night check-in like we did. Smoking is not allowed inside the hotel (except smoking rooms) so you have to get outside where the have some chairs and several ashtrays. I didn't bring my laptop but as far as I know you can get wifi access but not in all rooms so if you need it maybe you should tell them when you book. Nevertheless, I was able to use the internet as in the lobby, there is a desktop computer and printer which you can use for free 24/7.
There is also a restaurant called "La Table" where you can get something to eat for normal prices. The breakfast is also taking place there. The bar and the restaurant are right next to the reception.
Check-In/Check-Out: 12pm/12pm
I would go there again if I'd fly out of Frankfurt again.
