Fraser Island
Fraser Island was another addition to my trip after I had heard so many fellow fellow travellers rave on about it. Fraser is the largest sand island in the world which may not sound particularly interesting. However when you arrive on the island which is a short ferry ride away from Rainbow beach, you begin to realise its a very big island and is more than just sand.
Huge sand dunes, rainforests, and fresh water lakes await you. The main road on the island is 75 mile beach which as the name suggests is 75 miles long, and doesn't even run the entire length of the island. On this beach you can drive at 100km/h most of the time so driving the entire Indian head takes less than 2 hours. Sadly you cannot swim in the sea on Fraser, it is deemed too dangerous due to the strong currents, and abundance of sharks and sea snakes !
This is not a big problem though as the island has plenty of
fresh water lakes that are great for a swim. I really enjoyed Fraser, the group
I travelled with were great. I was the only Brit in my group. The others were
