You only meet your once in a lifetime friend... once in a lifetime

yay... making time for me on my trip!!!

Monday morning I slept until 11AM!!!  It felt so nice to get that much sleep... I still felt like crap but I felt like well rested crap.  I ate some breakfast and headed out towards Robinson to go to the shops up there (according to the stats the robinson area is the largest shopping area east of the mississippi river as there are about a dozen shopping plaza's all mushed together and a large mall ---and to think they're building a new mall about a mile away from there)

But I went up and saw all my friend where I used to work and talked to them and catched them up on my life.  I talked to Laurie... she's in geek squad... and she put on the morning meeting board that I was in town and that we were having a Bdubs (short for Buffalo wild wings restaurant) night on Wednesday.

.. i felt very special at that moment.  I also talked to Matt, one of the managers there, and asked him if he would pick me up for our wild night at Rum Shakers downtown. Also while I was at work I ran into my friend Chris.  He told me he was going to see Sweeny Todd on Tuesday night... the same show I'm going to go to.  He kept bragging about how he got such good seats an that he paid the highest price he could.  I was sort of bummed because this is the first year we didn't have rock star seats.  My friends and I are going to sit in the second balcony (which is where they put high school field trips when they go to Heinz hall to see a play)... sigh...

I headed back home and waited for my mom.  We went to Nakama Steak house down on the south side on East Carson street for dinner.

See we always thought it would be fun to go there... every time we walked by the windows there were always people having fun and eating.  So I got a coupon (yeah, I got a coupon sent to me in Minnesota telling me to go there on my birthday) for $20 a single order. So we went down and there's 2 parts of the restaurant.  Ones for sushi and the others for the habachi style cooking... we opted for the habachi and I got the shrimp with steak since I got a lot of money off my order.

the people we sat with were young and loud and obnoxious and knew the chef so we got no attention and if there was extra he gave the food to his friends rather than portioning it off.  But the one girl at the table was complaining (she looked to be about 21) that too many people are butting into how she parents.

and that if she wants to put her daughet to bed at 2AM then she should be able too... nobody else is the one getting woken up by a screaming baby and if the baby goes to bed that late she gets to sleep in later and stay out later!  What class.

My mom and I go home and Matt comes to pick me up.  I asked him what kind of car he was driving...every year he gets a beater car and drive his Nissan Z in the summer... he said he had a crappy sentra.  I was figuring a couple  year old sentra...nope... it was a brand spanking new 2008 car.  His beater car is nicer than most people that I know nice car... sigh.  (update on him... he ended up wrecking his Z and his motorcycle in the same week and replaced them with a viper.

.. sigh again).

But we headed down to Rumshakers on East Carson Street (a couple of blocks up from Nakama) and hung out with people from work and our favorite bar tender Jay where we drank some our usual favorites such as the Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster, the Batman, Strawberry crap, pumpin pie and a lunch box!!!  It was great seeing everybody again... it makes you realize how fast you can build friendships and what they mean to you... at this point I realize that alot of the people I'm going to see this week are the once in a life times friends you hear about because as Stymie in the Little Rascals film from 1994 says "You only meet your once in a lifetime friend... once in a lifetime."  This is very true and you never really realize what you leave until you don't have it any more!

We had a great time... we laughed, we almost cried and we parted ways... but we were going to have more adventures throughout the week!
