The lodging at the top of the Canyon in the South Rim

We got up to the lodging on the South Rim (the North Rim is closed this time of year due to the now) during night fall and checked into our rooms (which were very uncomfortable to sleep in... it was one of the worste night sleeps of my night... so I might suggest getting a hotel off property until you hike).

We put our stuff in the room and made our way to the lounge to get some food... which they had some sort of cafeteria line and then a game room where I beat my Uncle John at table hockey... I love that sport!  =) The rest of the ladies went back to the rooms and John, Dave, Nancy and I went to the rim to do some exploring in the pitch black.  It was pretty cool because I was in the country before but you never realize how much light pollution is really around you until that point because you couldn't see anything infront of you.

pure darkness... only the stars in the sky...
It was very sureal... I tried to take a picture but all you can see are the tree branches to the side that were lit up with the flash... I didn't bring my tripod but I don't think it would've done much good and I would've had to be out there for a long time.

But when we got back to the rooms I did breakout my tripod and do some night photo's experimenting with the lights color around... trying to see how the photo's would come out by utilizing the natural shadows and the artificial light and bracketing my photographs... I got a couple of photo's but nothing spectacular... I think I should've used black and white film for some of them!
