Pondering the year just passed
My new year rang in with a burst of fireworks and kisses at the Taste of Tasmania. Each year for a week after Christmas, some of Tasmania’s finest food and beverage providers get together to serve up a culinary feast at the docks near Salamanca. New Years Eve is a celebration, with a selection of musical entertainers and the night culminating in the midnight firework display that has all watching oooh-ing and ahhh-ing with each explosion. This year at midnight, I was one of those people.
Preceding midnight, the evening had been spent with friends enjoying good music, good food and a tasty glass (or two) of sparkling wine. The final day of 2007 was a hot affair, leaving me wanting to do nothing more than melt into the lounge on my patio, play with the kitten that comes to visit me once in a while, read the great book I have just started and ponder the year just passed.
2007 was a tough year; however, I am content with the way it ended and my overall feelings towards it. I am happy, and ever hopeful that 2008 will be the best year ever. I have travel plans to look forward to, a healthy and happy family and my beloved friends, the people who reached for my hand and touched my heart.
I am grateful to the long lasting friends, those who know me better than I know myself, the ones who have seen me at my worst and still love me, put up with my sense of humour and the fact I hardly ever call, and who hold my when I cry. Then there are my new friends, those who have laughed with me on holidays, help me stay sane at work, and kept the invites to dinner and the movies coming so I am never at a loss for something to do. Last but not least, my Travel Buddies... with your encouraging comments and fast friendships, phenomenal photos and winsome words. You have touched my life and my heart. Thank you.
