Pit stop in Prague : Departing with my old sneakers
January 5, 2008
My old sneakers. I left them on the streets of Prague, hoping someone will extend their life. They are still very comfortable!
I arrived in Prague early in the morning , with almost no sleep after chatting with some American guys on the train. One of the guys where so drunk that we did all kinds of pranks on him , like making him eat muffins that had been on the floor , and puting muffins in his chest pocket. We smashed his chest (and making a total mess of his muffin) to wake him up in Prague. A more serious guy engaged in a little more serious discussion about politics and stuff. We where supposed to change Email adresses, but everone was just so tired that we forgot all about it.
I was drop-dead tired and decided to take the train to Plzen. I had some time to kill so i went to Florenc bus station checking if the bus where cheaper and it was, but the trains are much more comfortable and somestimes worth the extra money. I also headed out to the platforms and found people selling fake clothing. There where some Chinese people selling fake clothes on the street and I looked at the prices and decided they where acceptable.. I bought two pair of shoes , and two jeans. Completely stuffing my backpack!
I sat there in new shiny shoes and looked down at my old extremely worn-out shoes with big remorse. I did not have space to take them into my backpack to bring them home ,and if i did they would never get used.. But these shoes have been in 41 different countries and was bought on WalMart in Texas City a few days before my birthday in 2005.. Those shoes have seen more than a normal pair of sneakers normally do and they have transported me around on four big trips..
