When I flew out to New York on March 16th I did not really know what to expect. I had a few things in mind that I wanted to do but no definite plan. The people who were supposed to pick me up from the airport had been caught up in a traffic jam, but I had a great time trying to find out with the help of security and fellow passengers how to phone to Europe. This was the first time I encountered this willingness to help which would be part of every of my days in New York. Whenever I had a question or needed something there was always someone I could ask and people very kind and friendly to me. I also met up with Andi, a TravBuddy friend, for lunch which was really great. The most memorable experience was my trip to Liberty Island and Ellis Island. It was the first day the sun would come out and although it was freezing cold because of the wind, everyone was in a good mood. Thanks to the advice of a Travbuddy friend I did not have to wait for more than 10 min before getting on the ferry. When I saw the Statue of Liberty for the first time I was kind of touched because I had wanted to come to New York since I was a little child.
Broadway, Times Square and Central Park... there are so many great things to see in New York. It is definitely one of the greatest cities I have ever been to and this has been one of my best travels also thanks to the many amazing people I met on my way.
