When we made it to San Fran the weather was gorgeous. It was really bright and no fog... We had to stay just outside the city for the first night (in San Bruno) as we weren't so organised this time with hostels. The traffic getting in was a nightmare though. We queued for ages to get across the bridge. When over the bridge, it was a bit late so it was a case of just getting heads down for the night.
The next day we took it easy as we were properly done in after Vegas and and all the rubbish with the car, and so had a really lazy morning (and afternoon) but eventually made it into the city for a look around. To our shock we found a load of hostels in the city which we just strolled into and booked for the following night.
We took a walk around North Beach and managed to get on a boat trip to Golden gate Bridge and Alcatraz. This was good, but we we were a bit too late to book teh full trip to get on the rock. These trips book up really quickly, so unless you book a few days in advance, you'll struggle to get on board.
The city is beautiful, but full of hills (and homeless). It's a really laid back place, but it did get tiring walking up and down everywhere. Pier 39 is quite well known, but is great fun. We spent a good hour or two watching the sea lions jostle for position. I was quite amused!I could have quite happily have stayed longer in San Fran and just chilled, but unfortunately it was getting close to the flight home time and we had to get a shift on and get to LA.
