Chicago
This wins my favourite city award on this trip. I wanted to stay longer here, but with the time we had, there was still a lot of places to get around, and the distances in between were a bigger than anticipated. It was a shame, but I'm planning on coming back to do the Route 66 Road Trip soon!
What I really liked about Chicago was the amount of variation. There's great places to eat all over the city. We checked out Little Greece, Pizza Uno (Deep Pan!), and Little China, but there's a lot more on offer. It's not just the food. The shopping is excellent on the Magnificant Mile, the night scene has a lot to offer, being the home of a lot of Jazz and Blues clubs, as well as trendy bars and venues and a theatre district.
The arts are really cool and the Museums are outstanding. There's a huge zoo and awesome beaches to chill on. You can also go see Jerry Springer being filmed and Oprah if you're organised (I didn't have time/disorganised!).There's a place called 'Kingston Mines' in Fullerton (I think), whcih is a Jazz and Blues club. I had one of the best nights nights here. We stayed until about 4am (even though it was a Wednesday night) and watched the acts. It was amazing. There are moments where the crowd participate and jam with the bands, the staff get up on stage to do a performance. It's totally cool. You get served your drinks to the table all night and be happily entertained for hours. I recommend it highly.
I love this city and would recommend going to anyone - I'll definitely go back and spend more time there.
