Boston
July 26, 2007
From New York, we took a train to Boston. It was here we found HI Hostels, which are brilliant value for money. The place we stayed at was very sociable and oganised a night out for everyone in the hostel.
the next day, after the hangover had worn off, we went for a walk around the Freedom Trail. This is ok if like a lot of history, but for us we were a bit done in after the night before. We eventually got to the U.S.S. Constitution in time for a huge storm, and so were trapped in a corner of the city, miles from the hostel, and no taxis to be seen. It was not good!
The next day was better. After a early night, we went out to Cambridge to do a tour of Harvard University. The unofficial tours, hosted by students, was a good choice. This took us around the grounds and added in some stories to make it good fun.
After Cambridge, we went on one of the Duck tours which are everywhere in Boston. These are the amphibian WW2 vehicles. They take you around the city and into the Charles river, explaining the history of Boston again. This was really good and easy going. We finished the day, and our time in Boston by having a few drinks in the Cheers bar.
