The last of the floating market
Went on a river boat trip which included going down a canal to visit the floating market to find it had finished and the market had indeed floated away.  It's their general election and according to the notice  on the hotel bar they can't sell alcohol from the 14th - 16th Dec,  I look at this  sign as  I join my parents who are happily sipping their beer.  In the restaurant the same sign is displayed but we go ahead and order beer to be told we're not allowed any, so I don't know what the difference was between the 18 floors that seperated the 2 venues.  Needless to say we were back to the bar as soon as we'd finished our meal, back to the bad singing and bright fairy lights.
Tomorrow I go to Ho Chi Minh City to see a friend, his last email finished with 'Brett and Nelly' - Now we all said he'd find a Vietnamese wife but he sure works fast considering he's only been there for 2 1/2 weeks out of the 2 years he plans to stop for (Brett is currently doing a TEFL course).  So I can't wait to find out what he's been up to.

Sitting on a rooftop, looking out at Bangkok city, drinking beer and eating popcorn I contemplate (oh yes it does happen) my trip so far and know that if I went home next week I'd happy - and I have so many more people to meet and experiences to be had, I'm one lucky bugger it has to said.
