Our first peek into the Lourve
Wow a dream come true to wander through the Lourve. To see the Mona Lisa, the Venus Di Milo. Wow! I gotta take a second to let that wash over me. Enjoy the pics. The story to come soon.

We attempte to wake early this day. I'm not too sure how that turned out. We were worried about crowds and lines but had forgotten it was winter and tourists like us as slightly rarer. We hopped onto the Metro and made our way over. You pop out of the underground and you see the Louvre, we walked throught this hallway to get to the main courtyard.  We took our pictures and then got into the 15 person line. We were in shortly and went through security. We dropped off bags and excess jackets, bought our tickets through the little machine and took off into the Denon wing.
We had the Mona Lisa in our hearts and everything was merely glanced at until we arrived at her salle.
You know you are there but the throng of people in front of her. You fight your way up to it and you are held back by a rope and then again by another barrier. You can get about 7 feet close to it. She is encased in glass that ruins picture taking. But she is lovely. I've had several wow moments with art and had one here too.
we finally left her line of sight and walked around, content to look at other now. We seen Cupid and Psyche, Venus di Milo, tons of eqyptain things (makes me wonder what is left in Eqypt if they world has so much of it) We hurried to see as much as we could. We still needed to eat and go to the Musee D'orsay. One ofthe things we did at the self service ticketing box was to buy tickets for the special exhibit.
Just chilling outside for a bit
It was an art of islam. I've really never been thrilled about it. They had Koran's and bowl and other stuff. I'm very picky about my art so I kind of just sat down while Su browsed. Then we headed out and caught a taxi to the musee. The taxi driver laughed when he heard where we wanted to go. It was just a little walk but we were tired.
We head in. It's going to close in an hour. I set off the metal detectors, again! We wander. Theres not much we know about this museum. BUt we had wanted to check it out nonetheless. Soon I drop from exhaustion of walking and give Su the camera to go be happy. Her camera decided to die becauseof the battery. I sat down and just chilled for the next hour. Caught myself falling asleep which is even funnier. Su eventually came back, taking a picture of me as I let my hair down and scaring me, funny though that picture reminds me so much of my grandfather.
Taking a picture of Su taking a picture of me, or well maybe she was taking a picture of art or something.
I like it.
We leave to go back to the hotel. We are having a nice dinner tonight. I brought a dress. There was no way I was only wearing that dress. It was so cold out. I ended up wearing my pretty dress over jeans. I kind of sort of pulled that off. I had a tube top under the dress and a scarf wound around my neck with my jacket and pretty shoes. Su also wore jeans with her dress and her turtleneck underneath it. So much for our nice dinner out. We found some places in our guide books and headed over to Champ-Elysees. The place we had picked in the guidebook looked dead so we found another place in the book right down the street and ate there. The hostess was really nice and spoke English for us non-french speaking people. We were in the smoking area and having a good time.
I loved the colors in this painting
Drinks were had but what they were I don't remember. I had literally the best meal of my life. It was a salmon with linguine. It was the best! I could not believe how good it was. We shared some fries and fromage. (I love fromage) and then desert. At this point I was pointing and clicking at things, the menu was in french and I picked something called a babo. I thought the name was funny. I should have been afraid when the waitress asked if I was sure. I nodded, what the heck. I got thoe round bread looking thing. It was covered in some glaze with whipped cream. I cut a piece off and was astounded. It tasted like it was soaked in liquor. Su tried a piece at my insistance and was horrified. I ate the whole damn thing. It got good after the first few bites.
