Sad goodbyes at the airport... me and my dad :)
So I have been in California for about a week visiting my wonderful family out here and adjusting as best I can to jet lag before I head on the next leg of my trip tomorrow. Funny thing is that for the last 48 hours we have been stuck in my grandmother's house, with no power (which means NO heat) and let me tell you, sunny california, is not so sunny around this time of year. Quite a storm has hit this part of CA and even worse seems to have hit in the mountains (where we were planning on going skiing). So for the last 48 hours we have stayed warm by lighting the gas stove with matches, wearing about 25 layers, sleeping with at least 8 blankets each (not exaggerating). It has been quite the test and I am so so happy to be clean and warm at my uncles house. Talk about a great start to a trip, maybe this just means the worst is over and clear skies ahead? We shall see.
Vamos USA ... tomorrow I leave for New Zealand!
