Mosquera Island
January 14, 2008
Ok, so we got to the Galapagos archipelago yesterday lunch time. We boarded our small-but-perfectly formed boat, met our fellow cabin mates and the crew and had a tasty dinner.
On board with us there are a couple german girls, a finnish couple, a couple of danish gents and another couple - the bloke is from manchester and his wife is columbian. Everyone is chilled and friendly.
Our guide for the week is a leather-skinned wiry old dude who's been here about 30 years and is a kind of cross between lionel blair / bob monkhouse type character and a south american bar owner. he's a dude.
First day we went to a beach and saw frigate birds swarming a fighting over some fish, we also saw pelicans, a flamingo and some marine iguanas.
We had a nice tea and and I fell asleep at about 8.10pm! Fell asleep I should say in the tiniest bunk, in the tiniest cabin EVER! After 4 days it's all change and we can go into the slightly bigger room.
As I write today we've just been snorkelling with Sea lions, sharks, turtles and tons of fish and this morning we hung out with a whole sea lion colony. the animals aren't a bit scared of you and one sea lion decided to have a bit of a nibble on my elbow!
just chilling now, eating pop corn, drinking beer and watching the frigates circling our ship as the cook throws out scraps for them
