Christmas Eve in the Dominican Republic

We got up relatively early today to have breakfast! Not gunna lie, the breakfast was really good and I kind of wish we had it more than twice, but at the same time I like my sleep so I'm not too worried about it. We were at breakfast at about 9:30am and went back to our rooms to pack at 10ish. We had to check out at 12 so we packed up pretty quickly and chilled in our room until 11:30ish. We went to the main lobby to check out and check our bags in until we had to leave. The bus was scheduled to pick us up at 5:30pm for our 8:50pm flight home. So we had some time to kill.
My dad and brother went over to the Golf resort to play mini golf while Linds and I set up camp at the benches near the pool so we could read and people watch. We chilled out there for a couple hours and then it started to rain like crazy! We moved far away from the outside and watched all the people run under cover.
We waited until late to have lunch because we were to leave before dinner started, so we went to our favorite Italian restaurant and said goodbye to our favorite waitress! Then we went back to our area to chill some more. At about 4-4:30 we went to get our luggage so we could change for the plane. While we did this we were informed from some fellow British Columbians that our flight was delayed. Now instead of the bus coming at 5:30 it would come at 2:30am and our flight would leave at 5am. Greeat. I suppose there are worse places to be stranded haha, but we really wanted to go home. We were supposed to arrive at 3am so we could go home and go to bed and wake up and it would be Christmas.
We got our luggage and sat with it for a bit. They gave us this 'courtesy room' and it was pretty nasty, we heard it was gross and it really was. It smelled like sewer, part of the roof was missing, the towels for if we wanted to shower were all wet and piled in the corner of the bathroom. Nice. Linds and I changed and then went back to the lobby. We went for Christmas dinner at 8ish. It was alright, there was a lot of food and it was mostly pretty good. There was a pretty strict dress code for dinner too.
Then starting at about 10 there was a Christmas show at the theater. I really had not a lot of interest in watching it, I just wanted to sleep.
Finally after killing a ridiculous amount of hours in the lobby, our bus came! Our guide on the bus was pretty funny which made the ride better. We got to the airport and waited in line to check in, when we were informed of the compensation we would get. Each group received a $50 gift cerificate for the next time we fly Sky Service...right, like we'd ever fly with them again. The reason the plane was delayed was mechanical problems, not the weather.
The airport was pretty sweet though, if only everything was open and it wasn't 4 in the morning on Christmas day lol...But anywho, we boarded at 5am and got ready for our 10 hour flight. Our first meal was a tiny breakfast sandwich and a little bit before we landed in Calgary they gave us a piece of cheese, a cracker and some raisins. Mmmm. We landed on time at 10:50am, booked it to customs and got our bags fast and were home by 12:30.
