The hill helped a bit, but having failed to find any car parks in Glastonbury, I was still stressed, so I stopped in Wells to see the cathedral, and, more importantly, the placed where they filmed Hot Fuzz. Here are the piccies.

Wells Cathedral and Clock
Wells Cathedral is in the centre of Wells, and you would have to close your eyes and ears very tightly to miss it. It has a very elaborate facade, and is terribly beautiful from the outside. Inside is gorgeous - there are some very unusual arches called scissor arches which have a big circle on the top, and I'd assumed that they were modern but it turns out that they are mediaval too. I can't show you any pictures because I didn't have money for a photography permit, but a google search will show you what I mean.
The cathedral isn't huge, but it is stunning. The most interesting thing is the ancient clock, one of the oldest in the world. It has dials for the hour, minute, and phase of the moon, and when it chimes then clockwork knights on horseback come out and chase each other around in a jousting match.
The cathedral has a strong tradition of music, and as well as the official concerts, there are often choirs practicing, especially at lunch time.
