Barrow Wake

I have a lot of home towns, and several towns I would love to adopt. I also don't have a great attention span for just sitting indoors on the weekends. This Blog is about all the places I've been to since I got back from the Netherlands, the weekends with friends, and the nights out along the way.

This has to be one of the most beautiful places on the bottom half of England.  It’s called Barrow Wake Viewpoint, and it’s just North of Cirencester and South of Gloucester.  It’s stunning.  Apparently on a clear day you can see Gloucester and all sorts of other places, but in the hazy light today, you could make out the M5 and some beautiful landscape on the north edge of the Cotswolds, and I will have to go back and check if Gloucester is really there or not.  I got some very funny looks from people.  Most people there had been walking the Cotswolds way and were in fleeces and boots.  Not me.  Low heeled pumps and my denim skirt.  But then I don’t generally wear walking boots to drive home from Manchester, and it was on the way.  A much better way to recover your reaction times from a long drive than sitting breathing diesel in a roadside service station, isn’t it?  I thought so.

I’m going to go back as soon as I can, possibly in walking boots and a fleece, and do a bit of enjoying the fresh air.  Can’t wait.
