Khaosan Road, Bangkok.
Me and three friends flew to Bangkok via Dubai so we could do a bit of travelling around this gorgeous country.  Our first night we were in Bangkok and stayed just of Khaosan Road.  It's really lively here and packed with backpackers like us.  We took a few rides in the Tuk Tuks, and these were good fun, but you don't get taken to where you asked to go. We got taken out of town to some seedy club.  A quick taxi ride later and we were back on Khaosan Road.  We went out to Patpong and it's mental there. The stuff that is going on is unreal; go if that's your thing...

From Bangkok we flew to Phuket and did some trips out from there.
It was about a year after the Tsunami when we were there, and the effects were still there to see.  It was quite upsetting to see what had happened, but credit to the people, their attitude was incredibly positive, and they just got on with everyday life.

From Phuket, there are great days out.  Our first was to Phangya Bay, which was beautiful.  Massive rocks just pertrude out of the sea - it's incredible.  We took a boat out to the islands and on it there were canoes, which we used to drift into the lagoons.  This really was amazing.  We were diving into the sea off the top of the boat and messing with the canoes for hours; brilliant fun in the middle of no-where.

Second day we went Elephant trekking and quad biking.  Everything is cheap compered to the Western world, so we got stuck in and did as much as possible.
Get these in Bangkok! They're great fun.
There are few good treks to do as well and we went swimming and diving in the pools that just appear all over the place;  Thailand has so much natural beauty.

The next day, we went to Phi Phi Island (where the film "The Beach" was filmed (on Maya Bay)) and it is beautiful.  On this trip, we went to Monkey Island, where we went snorkelling in the Barrier Reef.  Yeah - that was cool.

The Night life in Phuket is quite hassel filled.  You'll get propositioned at every bar you go to, and so be on your guard a bit.  I was pissed here which could have had a few consequences!  You have to turn a bit of a blind eye to some things in Phuket, but if your eyes are open, you will see some disturbing stuff from time to time; just be warned, there is an unpleasant side to Thailand as well.
Patpong - Bangkok
  i won't dwell on that.

We stayed in Phuket for five nights which was perfect for us.  We saw enough of the trips to be happy with our efforts, but still I caould easily go back and either do exactly the same again or try out some new trips and stuff.  It's a great place, but I'd prefer to see it in small doses.

Next stop was Koh Samui.  The airport is worth seeing.  It's like a lot of huts grouped together.  I'd never had guessed it was an airport if it wasn't for the planes flying in and out!  It's the airport I've ever been to and I've seen a fair few!

We took it easy over here and did the usually touristy stuff such as getting wasted and playing with jet skis etc.  When wehad caught up with sleep, and had some energy again, we decided to rent a jeep and get around the island.
Sunset on Phuket Beach
We saw the Big Budda, the Mummified Monk, lots of temples, lots of waterfalls, and the Grand Father and Grand Mother Rocks.  This was certainly worth doing for the week that we were here.  It's more of a perty place than anything else.  This was great for us, but if I was doing a more full travel i.e. a longer duration, I wouldn't stay here too long.  We we're just milky the luxury life on the cheap.

There's lots of parties going on on Koh Samui and we went to a beach party.  If I could go again, I'd time it for the Full Moon Party, which is on Koh Phangan.  I'd go again as quick as a flash.  I loved Thailand.

We had our last night in Bangkok again, but we were all a bit done in at this point so didn't deviate too far off Ko San Road.  We did manage to get around the zoo and a few of the city attractions during the day though.  It was quite a fun last day, but our energy levels were a bit too low at this point.  We also had a very long flight back to face, so that was that.

Whoever goes to this country, I think will always have a great time.  Behave!
