A wonderful day at an Historic place, Oscarsborg in the Oslo fjord
My friend, Tor Egil and I decided to take the ferry from Drøbak out to the Island Oscarsborg. The Island sits in the Oslo Fjord, where she has guarderd Christiania and Oslo for centuries. And stood as a symbol of Norways freedom, especially in regard of 1905, when we got free from the union with Sweden and 1940 when Colonal? Eriksen and his men sank the German battleship Blücher and thereby participated in the escape for the Royal Family and the Norwegian Government from the enemy.
Today it's a full year hotel, restaurant and coffeshop. You can also find a museum and a spa here. They also arrange concerts.
It has beautiful nature, and a great view over the Oslo fjord in every direction.
A lot of people visit the Island during the summer months, and I highly reccomend a visit to anyone visiting Norway and the Oslo area.
