On our way to Selcuk

If you really love travelling and ready to sacrifice a 1 night comfortable warm sleep in your hotel then i would say you must try this 10 hour night ride from Istanbul to Selcuk. But when you reach selcuk, rent a room, take some rest, explore selcuk and make it as your base to see the surrounding tourist destinations. What i and my friend did wrong was that we started our Journey on the same day, which becomes very tiring.

Well about our ride, we already had our coach and next 2 days planned for Ephseus, Kusadasi & Pamukale, in Istanbul but you don't need to pay extra amount to travel agent as one can plan own his own with little research and save atleast $200 to $300. Our 45 seater coach, if i remember correctly, started at 7pm from the Asian part of Istanbul.

The coach was clean, comfortable and we were served with perfumed towels and water at regular intervals all along. Around midnight we crossed the marmara sea on a transporter ship (a 30 minutes ride) and enjoyed drinks/snacks on the top level of this ship. It was an amazing stary night and the view was spectacular. We also had a short stop at Izmir for refreshments and again had some interesting turkish fried wheat bread and a traditional milk/yogurt drink. Man it was fun!!

We got dropped at around 6 Am in selcuk near our travel agent sub office, which was closed at that time and we slept for 2 hours on wooden benches. When i recall it now, i thought even that was fun..:)

Selcuk is an amazing small town. The place looks really calm, quiet, away from the hustle & bustle of big cities. People are very friendly and simple. We spent only few hours but really liked it. If i ever go back i would really like to spend 1 or 2 days here. Hotels are very cheap and one can make it as a base to explore the surrounding attractions, like Pamukale, Ephseus etc.
