When ever I visit a new town or city the first thing I do is look for the local art museum and public/community art. Art is everywhere and often where one least expects it to be :)

Newton Public Art

The state of Iowa has always been supportive of the Arts. Even small towns will proudly display public sculptures and murals!

I spent a couple days in Newton for work related purposes and found the down town to be very pleasant and home to some lovely outdoor artwork.. My favorite was the Giant Lizard located outside the Public Library!! There was also a really cool large and colorful chair in front of the library that some children were playing on. One little boy proudly claimed that he could "see the whole wide world" from the top of the chair. :P:P Thats what seemed to make this little town unique. People were interacting with the work.. They enjoyed it and were proud if it..

I still haven't found all the sculptures and murals; and I look forward finding them the next time :P
