A poor meteor shower, but fairly good results.
A few days back we were told that a meteor shower would be very visible in our eastern sky from midnight until three a.m. and being the retired old guy I am, I figured I could stay up after the late show and go out and see if I could see anything. Now I should mention that I live in town and the light pollution is usually pretty bad, but luckily at that hour it isn’t so ugly. I turned off the lights in the house after taking my tripod and camera out. I staggered back out, trying to be careful not to kick anything. It was so dark that it took me a minute or two just to locate my tripod. I looked up and the few stars I could see seemed to sparkle but after waiting at least a half hour I still hadn’t seen any of the meteor shower. So I started concentrating on the stars I could see. I got several shots and although they didn’t look that great at first, after I took them off my camera and put them on my computer they began to look a little better. I had to bring out the pictures which at first were very under exposed. I think they turned out pretty well for an amateur.
