Mars. up close and personal
My daughter came to me the evening before the very early August 1st occurrence of Mars making a very close pass near earth. I usually don’t get up at 4:30 am under any circumstances, that’s the middle of the night!! But my mind couldn’t put the information to rest and at 4:30 I was wide awake. So I got up, dressed and grabbed my camera and tripod and headed outside to the driveway where I could get a fairly good view of Mars. My daughter had told me that according to some of the reports Mars would be the size of the moon so it would be very worthwhile. Well, it certainly wasn’t as big as those reports, but the sky was clear and I got several pictures.
Oh, and my daughter nearly slept through the whole things. It was at least five before she came out.
