Each day I am thankful for the people who have helped create this unforgettable experience. What I have learned, the people I've met, and the things I have seen are worth much more than the price tag of 'one trip to Africa.'

Namibia's Extreme Sports Capital

Trying to step it up a little

We spent three nights in Swakopmund, where the desert meets the ocean, and it was definitely one of the highlights of the trip. If I had the money I could have spent about three weeks there indulging in all of the sports. Saturday morning a bunch of us went sand boarding. It is just like snowboarding...only in the desert, on sand, and no lift to carry you to the top hehe. It was so much fun and I was caked in sand in sweat by the end of the day. You hike up the dune in big clunkin boots while carrying your board and break for water every now and then.

On Sunday morning a few of us went sea kayaking in a seal colony. It was beautiful and I was thankful to have my own little kayak. There are over 28,000 seals in this colony; they are very playful animals-biting our paddles, splashing us, or bumping into the kayaks. It was one of those days where I said to myself  "oh my gosh, I am sea kayaking off the coast of NAMIBIA with thousands of seals!" There was a baby seal drowning so the guide pulled it out of the water and had us hold it on our boats and then he took it to shore.
