Xmas in Chiangmai was a casual, enjoyable, but nonethless lovely day. We decided to take it easy after our action packed day of elephant riding and trekking as well as our visit to the Sunday night walking bazaar (which was huge and had the most delicious treats - thick slices of bread with butter and sugar heaped on top (the bread here is fit for dessert), banana waffles cooked on the spot) where i purchased some little handmade wooden whistles as chrissie pressies for my travel buddies. Stella at the Green Tulip House had prepared a King's feast for us! it was absolutely delicious with roasted chicken and ham, gravy, beans, carrots, stuffing, roasted potatoes and meatballs - the plates were so packed that no one could finish a single plate on their own! Afterwards, we had christmas cake as well - vanilla and chocolate sponge cake which was gorgeously decorated wtih little santas and icing. That night we had dinner at a side street stall (only 50 baht for a green curry but it was steaming, hot and delicious) and headed to an English pub for a couple of drinks. We debated over whether to go to the skimpy girls bar...decided against it and headed back to the guesthouse where we had drinks in Mel and E's room as well as some order in pizza which cost more than two night's accomodation! (it turned out to be 50 baht a pizza...total rip off!)
