After a bit of walking and a bit of asking, since my lonely planet map doesn't cover this part of auckland in enough detail, i finally found the brewery.
of course the doors were closed since i was about 30 min early, not taking any chances on the last tour during my stay. so i went to get a coffee across the street. sounds simple enough. but i had to walk for ages in the wrong direction to get to a lightcrossing, and there was waay too much traffic to cross anywhere else. of course this light crossing only had crossings on one side of the road, so i had to stand and wait for what seemed like at least five minutes, twice. just to get to the coffee across the street. but it was worth it, the coffee was very good, albeit a bit too hot for my poor tongue. good thing i burned the front part, and not the important bitter taste-buds i need for beer-tasting!
The best thing about ending up on this tour, is the other group who was there. A bachelor party. And the groom was marrying the barman's daughter, so we all got extended free beer time :) it's supposed to be about 30 minutes, we got over 80! and since no one knew when it would end, we just kept drinking what we could. you could say we were far from sober when we got out of there, the germans headed straight for mcdonalds, and a much needed afternoon-drunk-snack... :)
