Holiday in Carneros 2008 (Sonoma Wine Event)
I belong to a local wine group in Sacramento called Vinous Envy. We often have events that involve wine pairings and dinner parties but sometimes we get out and actually meet up at local wineries and other events. Some of the Sonoma wineries put on the Holiday in Carneros (region in Sonoma) and for $40, you can taste at all the participating wineries. The event runs both Saturday and Sunday but I could only go Saturday since I was working at the winery on Sunday!
There was supposed to be a fairly large group of like 20-30 people but when my friend Dawn and I arrived at the first winery, we were at about 8-10. A few more were supposed to meet up with us and we never figured out what did happen to them. We toured a few wineries in this industrial type area, headed out to the Napa/Sonoma border to Artesa, and then back to Sonoma to Mahoney. After the wineries, we headed off to a nice dinner. After dinner, a few of us stayed to listen to the music and hang out in the outside bar area by the fireplace, eventually making our way back to Sacramento.....completely exhausted!
