Around the World - From an Underwater Angle

Cozumel Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

Our travels take us around the world, most often to be able to scuba dive and adventure within our oceans. This blog will share our thoughts on the trips and destinations themselves, as well as show off some of what we see (both above and below the water). Hope you enjoy!

Cozumel, My Cozumel...

Great Place at a Great Price
We stayed at the Hotel Vista del Mar on our trip to Cozumel in March of 2008. This was our first stay at the hotel. We had read positive recommendations about the hotel and are pleased that we are now offering the same.

The hotel is what we would consider a "no frills" hotel - meaning that we had our room (ocean view with a King bed), wireless internet, and morning continental breakfast, small roof top pool - all provided at the low cost of $85/night. So here is what we found...

When we arrived, the check-in process was very easy and eased along with the free drink. Since we arrived early, they let us put our bags in their storage room, change into some warm weather clothes and then come back later to get the key.

Our room was very nice, and more importantly was clean and comfortable. In the room we had our bed, sitting chair, desk, tv, small refrigerator, AC, and bathroom. Again, no "frills" but definitely not low class. We had no complaints.

The location of the hotel, right off the main cruise ship pier, in downtown makes for a great location though the daytime is crowded with the cruise ship guests - but I guess all downtown is kind of that way. The hotel entrance is situated just inside one of the little tourist squares with all kinds of small shops and vendors.

The downtown San Miguel location honestly can't be beat. The hotel is within a short walk of most anything you want to get to.

So, if you are looking for clean, comfortable and low cost we would highly recommend the Vista del Mar.
