Last February, I was still going out with the MREB. We're still friends, and he has very kindly agreed to let me use his photos of the trip to Arthur's Seat. You can tell they're his, actually. He's an artist and he's been playing with the colours and things - I think these are really nice shots. Of course, there are rather too many of some red head, in front of the view.
Arthur's Seat is the large, extinct volcano in the centre of Edinburgh, and the best hangover cure known to man. Trust me - by the time you've puffed your way to the top, only to be confronted with the ridiculously fit ancient man who has just skipped up the steep side and is now sprinting down the easy bit (he's always there!), you feel a lot better. One of the things I love most about Edinburgh is the existence of a large extinct volcano right in the middle. It also saves you money on sightseeing. Honestly. You go to the top with a local, and they say, that's the top of the Castle, that's Princes street, that's the Scott monument, and that's Hollyrood Palace, and then you decide what you actually want to go into from a place where no-one is hounding you with bus leaflets. You have space to think. You can see all the ships on the Forth River, and the ghostly football chants drift up the hill. It's my total top tip for Edinburgh.
