Room to stretch... a rare thing on an airplane
So this morning I left the UK to come back to the States after my very short trip through Europe.  I arrived at Heathrow at 3:30am for my 6:00am flight to Zurich.  Terminal 2 was pretty empty and I began to wonder if I was the only one who decided to leave New Years Day at 6:00am.  As I sat waiting for the check-in counter to open, the Terminal began to fill up.  People were streaming in (some still looking as though they had just come from their New Years Eve parties) by the numbers and before I knew it, the place was packed.  After check-in and security, I waited for my flight to board.  I had a great seat going from London to Zurich.

It was in an exit row and I really had room to stretch out.  Even though the flight was only and hour and a half, I enjoyed every bit of it.  Soon we arrived in Zurich and I had a 3 and a half hour layover for my flight to Washington. I took some time to catch up on my journal entries and to ckeck my email.  Before we boarded, I went up to the airline desk and asked if they had any available seats in Economy Plus.  Fortunatley they did and she assigned me a new seat in that section.  Basically it meant that I got an extra 5 or 6 inches of legroom which, for me, really does help.  The flight to Dulles normally would've taken 8 or so hours but because of strong head winds, we were informaed that the flight would take 9 and a half hours!!  Oh well, at least I had more room to stretch out! The 9 and a half hours went by rather quickly.  Everything was more or less ok except for a lot of turbulence ,which caused the girl sitting next to me to throw up.. as you can imagine, it wasn't too pleasant!  So now, I am home. Normally by now, I would have some other trip already planned in my head but for some reason I don't this time..  But despite that, this trip was awesome.  Honestly it was one of the best ones I have taken in quite a long time!! :)
