So I bought some of stuff at the 76 gas station and then tried to just top it off in the morning before heading to San Diego. Yeah that turned into a little fiasco, as apparently I didn't know where to put the damn oil into! Even Tracy's brother was like "um.. I'm not sure!" So we drove down sunset and the nice pinoy boys at EZ Lube "topped off" (read they added 2 entire bottles of 5/30 oil to my car) for FREE.
Tracy also had a really bad morning, as her bathroom was being remodeled and she grabbed the wrong AOSEPT bottle to rinse off her contacts and put it in her eye. The disinfecting solution is basically hydrogen peroxide!! And she put it in her EYE!! Girlfriend has some chutzpah to just rinse that shit out, don her glasses and say "let's go!" If I had burned my cornea like that, I'd be like "excuse me today as I languor at home and take care of my eyeball please.." What a trooper Tracy is!
So we left an hour later than the already rescheduled hour later time we had planned on and the drive took 3.
We were supposed to go to Pacific Beach for lunch since they have some awesome Indian food places there, but were running so late we basically missed lunch. So instead we headed straight for Black Beach but somehow wound up at Del Mar beach, which was literally 2 miles from where my parents' old home in San Diego was.
Tracy and I spent probably 20 minutes on the beach, as RJ's band of merry friends had hiked for probably an hour prior to our arrival. They were starving and so we headed in the direction of Extraordinary Desserts in downtown San Diego. We figured we would find a restaurant nearby and then finish off with dessert at this much-recommended place.
Little did we realize how similar downtown San Diego is to downtown Los Angeles. Everything is freaking closed on the weekends! We couldn't find a single damned thing to eat and wandered around near the train tracks. We knew we were kinda close to the infamous gaslamp district but weren't sure if it was walkable. Many people were famished and unable to go much further, so I ended up asking this dude hanging off his balcony eating beef jerky if there was a good restaurant close by. He directed us back where we came from - Little Italy and we finally ended up at this awful Italian-diner place with just miserable food. What a waste of a meal! Full and unsatisfied, we left for Extraordinary Desserts and had a much better time here, taking pictures, trying out fabulous desserts and having a good old time =)
It's interesting to watch the progression of pictures being taken.
