Brunch at French Market in Venice
Matt swung by LA for a bit after his partying and debauchery in New York at the NY TB meet! So we got some good, clean fun into him in the form of walking around in the sun, riding horses, and he should be right healthy and happy for his trip home =)

I picked up Matt and we met Nhi in Venice at the French Market Cafe. Sadly, Matt seems to know the Santa Monica area a lot better than I do and I kept deferring to him for directions! Nhi knows a lot of fantastic places and this one was so chill. Lots of ex-pats from Europe, and pretty good food. We heard they had great coffee here too but none of us ordered the coffee. It's very Urth-Cafe-esque, where you order at the counter, get a number and seat yourself at a table. Even the menu colors are identical to Urth!

Matt made a new friend in line, a girl from England who was formerly a model! She seemed somewhat big-gummed to be, but definitely had that long, lean look.
Matt on Lady Shakespeare!
Due to this new friend and trying not to scare her away, I did not take a zillion pictures as I normally do =) Recommendation at French Market Cafe: don't get the French Onion soup. Pick up a rasberry parfait from the fridge. It's worth the $4 bucks.

Then off we went to go horseback riding!! This is always a treat. I've been once before at Sunset Ranch and another time in Hawaii. This time was much better as we had great horses and did the 2 hour ride as opposed to the 1 hour ride. We also had a tiny group (just the 3 of us) so we got a private ride by a nice girl who hopefully joins travbuddy!

This was Matt and Nhi's first time horseback riding and they did great! Matt rode Lady Shakespeare, Nhi rode Glide, and I rode Malcolm. I loved Malcolm, what a great horse.
Nhi looking awesome!
He listens really well, he's young and strong and responds to the slightest tug on his reins. Matt's horse was hella-lazy and just kept pooping everywhere. Nhi's horse was a bit slow too, but never got distracted by the flowers and plants on the side of the road like mine did. Oh I loved my horse!! =)

After our desert adventure we got a little hungry and decided to get some Thai food which is so delicious in LA. We tried a new restaurant which was ok. Not spectacular but still very good in the same plaza that the singing Elvis Thai place used to be in before they moved. We had a very healthy, mostly vegetarian meal and then made our way to a dessert shop that was packed with great little eats and candies.

Nhi chose about 4 things for all of us to try, from salty egg rice mochi to taro-coconut cakes to sugar cane cotton candy.
Oh my GOD, look at those chocolates inside Whole Foods!
It was SO MUCH FUN trying all these new things! My favorite was the green cotton candy hair, I thought that was awesome. Unfortunately I spilt about half of it on the floor and Nhi almost cried. I almost did too!! We didn't have a place to sit, so we literallly just stood in the sun near some wall and pulled out all our candy. I haven't had this much fun since I was 15 and used to eat 25 cent zeppollis in Battery Park on the grass that probably no longer exists there.

After our sugar high, we thought we would catch a flick at one of the historic cinemas in Westwood. Sadly, they were only playing Maid of Honor, some Audrey Tautou movie, and Harold and Kumar 2. I would've LOVED to see Harold and Kumar 2, but I really wanted to save that up for our TB meet since I had made such a big stink about people not seeing it when it came out in theatres.
Let's get sorted out here..
I want to laugh with my Travbuddies!!! =)

So Nhi expressed a desire to visit Whole Foods. Me and Matt were like "MORE FOOD?!?!" Jeez Louise! We checked out some wines. We checked out some cheeses. We ragged on spoiled co-eds with their organic crap choices when we had NO supermarket at ALL. And then... da da da dum.. we walked by the bakery and chocolate truffle section and it was ALL OVER. Nhi went on a SPREE. And it was hard not to with all the colors and shiny chocolate shells and sprinkles and the chocolate fountain bubbling in the corner. It was paradise!

Yes!! Oh good to know - no regrets then! Audrey's movies seem to be going downhill from Amelie!
