At Dencio's Grill- Mark, Bryan and Me

It was three o'clock in the afternoon when I got a phonecall from Seoul-based travbuddy Howyoodoin (Mark). He has finally arrived in Manila, and was currently having his lunch in Robinson's mall. Incidentaly, the mall was just right beside my office so I decided to meet him, and we had an hour-long chat. I wanted Mark to maximize the time of his stay so I recommended some neaybr, must-see places in Manila-- the Luneta or Rizal Park and Intramuros, that he could visit after his meal. I still had to work til 6PM so we decided to meet again in the evening so he can experience what my city has to offer in terms of nightlife.

I phoned other Manila-based travbuddies buy only Ryan84 (Bryan) was avaialble.

Giligan's Malate- Bryan, Josh and Mark
He told me he was actually expecting Mark so he immediately said yes. Bryan is a fellow Travbuddy whom I've been talking over the phone and exchanging text messages regularly, but this is also the first time im meeting him in person. Well, thanks to Mark. :-)

At 7PM, the three of us met in the same mall. Bryan and I decided to let Mark experience some popular Filipino dishes for dinner. We ended up at Dencio's Grill, one of Manila's finer restaurants, where we had Pork Sisig (a Philippine dish made from parts of pig’s head and usually seasoned with kalamansi or chili peppers), Sizzling Pusit (flavored squid) and Pinakbet (some native vegetables cooked with fermented fish and some pork). We made the right choices-- Mark enjoyed eating everything (well, I supposed as there were no leftovers).

The night was still young. We were fortunate enough that we were actually within one of  Manila's nightlife capital- Malate! Not so far away were rows of bars that offer different ambience. We picked Gilligan's where there were tables outside where we enjoyed looking at some locals and foreigners passing by. After a couple of bottles of beer, we transferred to Bistro 90 Bar where upbeat music were played. We has another set of two for the road.  Our last stop was at Mark's hostel, which is just a few buildings next to these bars. He's been telling us about SoJu, Korean's version of vodka. How did the night end? Bryan and I had to get a room in the hostel as we could not manage to go home anymore. We dreamt of more SoJus! :-)
