Exploring the city

We spent a few weeks travelling around New Zealand, roughly one week on the North Island and two on the South Island. It definately wet my appetite for travel.

Exploring the city

Had a really good breakfast with the other guests at 8.00am. We booked our bus to Rotorua for tomorrow, then headed back into Auckland for the day. We walked via the beach and Northhead Nature Reserve on Devonport - it was good to explore this suburb. Got onto Ferry - which is very efficient - into the city centre. We visited the Quayside where the America's Cup Teams were based and had a look at some very big, very expensive yachts which were moored up. We then headed over to the Museum in Auckland Domain - a big and beautiful park. The Museum was impressive - it had an interesting section on the Maori culture and history and a good section on war. After this we headed back on foot to Devonport, after a little rest we went for dinner at Monsoon - a Thai/Malay restauraunt for a delicious meal with a bottle of wine - think having jetlag makes alcohol affect you a lot quicker!!

This was one of our treats of this trip - staying in B&B - and a real treat it was. It is run by Clive and Kate Sinclair and they are fantastic hosts -really look after all their guests. The breakfast were really good. The rooms are amazing - the one we stayed in even had its own balcony.
Clive and Kate were really helpful in giving us info about Auckland, helping us to book buses gave us a lift to the ferry. It really was an excellent place to stay i would recommend it to anyone.

It is situated in Devonport which is a suburb just outside of the centre of Auckland but really easy to get to - there is a bridge if you drive, but the ferry runs often and is really efficient. Devonport has a beach also which has got to be a bonus on them hot sunny days.

Thanks for the info! I love B&Bs; I've found them a great way to meet people and find out the things only locals understand. I may try to sneak in a trip to Australia/New Zealand January 2007. If I do, I'll be sure to give Clive & Kate a ring.
