Sunrise from the sungate, more photos to follow

Arrived into Lima and then flew to Cusco, much better than the 20 hour bus journey we could have taken! We got into the tiny airport in Cusco after flying through the mountains which was amazing but slightly scary. The altitude hit us almost as we got off the plane, a feeling of light headedness and a feeling of someone stood on your head. Not too pleasant, but lets hope we adjust to it.

Cusco is a fantasic little city, with just breathtaking views and architecture. Its so much more than somewhere to adjust to the altitude before going on the inca trail. I will write a more detailed review soon, we are spending a night in a traditional porters village on monday night and then are off on the four day threee night trek on Tuesday. We are a little nervous at the moment because we know it will be hard, but it will be such an amazing experience!

Well we survived the inca trail! Its the hardest thing I have ever had to do, to keep yourself going when all you want to do is give up. It wouldn´t have traded in for the easy option, as we felt such a sense of achievement arriving into Machu Picchu when everyone else had come by train. Seeing the sun rise on Machu Picchu from the sungate was one of those things that just stays with you.

Arrived back late last night and we are trying to recover this morning, nursing our aches and pains relaxing. When the energy comes back and the feeling comes back in my knees I will write up a trip report!
