We arrived intoCairns and safely met up with James and Jane at Cairns airport. We were picked up by the hostel and headed to JJ's backpackers which was very orange but welcoming.

In Cairns we mainly chilled out by the lagoon which went right up to the sea, but we also had to plan our trip down the east coast in 2 and ahalf weeks which did get quite stressful at times. We did get it all sorted and we booked our greyhound pass and a combined Whitsundays and Fraser Island tour. We paid a little bit more because we had heard horror stories about bed bugs and cramped boats!

It wasn't allwork though as we partied at the Woolshed, which I think everyone does when they goto Cairns as they offer free meals to backpackers. They also put on goldfish races which are surprisingly entertaining,

After a couple of days in Cairns we hoped on the overnight greyhound toAirlie Beach the jumping off point for the Whitsundays.

Dear Bill and Joan, I am glad the postcard arrived safely. We are lapping up the sun on the east coast at the moment, but Otjikondo is always in our thoughts.
