From Santa Elena we took the early bus with the Canadian guys we had met the day before on the zip line tour down to Punterenas. ONce in Punterenas there was just time to grab a bit to eat then straight onto the large boat taking across the water to the beach resort of Montezuma. IN Montezuma we found cheap accomadation at a grubby little hostel. The only thing going for it was that it was cheap and right on the beach, this out weighed the fact that the sheets werent clean and that there were biting ants walking all over the room. ONce we checked in our room with the Canadian guys staying in the same place only nicer more expensive room it was straight down to the beach. The beach was fairly nice but nothing in comparison to the becahes of Oz or Asia. The waves though easily matching the strength of those in Bondi but no good for  surfing as the break was no good. Had great fun getting smashed around and pulled down as the waves broke over my head. Dont remember being in waves so strong. The small town of Montezuma was nothing really to write home about but pleasant enough all the same. Just a small central street with few toursist shops, eatieries, tourist agencies, bars and some accomadation. Like San Juan easily walkable in half an hour. After spending the day we arrived at the beach we went out in the evening for a nice seafood meal with our new Canadian freinds at a restuarant over looking the beach. The next morning was once again spent on the beach trying to get back some of the tan I had lost in Central America and getting smashed around by the waves. In the afternoon all four of us headed into the forested area just a short walk from the town to discover some waterfulls that we had been told about by a guy in the hotel. We first came across a waterfull of medium size where we stopped and swam for a while then took a hard trek up some tough terrain to get to some more waterfulls on a higher level. Here Katrina was the only one to have the bottle to do a big jump off the rock into the pool below. I had visions of jumping in but missing the pool and smasing my legs in half on the rocks next to the pool so I bottled it. FRom the waterfulls we headed back on the way seing some monkeys up in the tree. That evening was spent playing cards getting drunk then out to a bar for a few drinks. Is nice in small towns like this that everthing is in walking distance, specially in beach resorts just being able to spend the whole time in your sandals and walking or just sitting and listening to the waves in the darkness. The next morning it was a quick a quick breakfast on the beach outside our hostel then the boat back over to Punterenas. From Punterenas we took the bus ride to the capital of San Jose.
